During the last 20 years the number of parks and the area of parklands have increased in Canada and in Ontario. Throughout Canada the number of visitors to parks has in-creased while the budgets have shrunk over the same period. The gap between the in-creasing park responsibilities, in terms of area and visitor numbers and the dwindlingnancial resources available for management has widened
